The five hallmarks
In order of appearence
The “Crown” is a certificate of authenticity of the material and craft
The “Moon” is the symbol for silver
The “925” means sterlingsilver. 925 parts of 1000 chemical parts in the metal are silver, 75 parts are copper
The “KL” is the signature of the silversmith as mastercraftman and a combination of his initials and a personal sign
The “JR” is the signature of the Josef Rainer Shakermanufaktur
These hallmarks are originally to be stamped onto silver wares like spoons, forks, knives, pots, bowls or plates. But for jewelry the alloy (925/000) and the signature is sufficient.
